The members of the Strelet Government took an oath of allegiance before President Nicolae Timofti, in the presence of representatives of embassies, IPN reports.
“I swear to give all my power and knowledge for the prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, to obey the Constitution and the country’s laws, to defend democracy, the basic rights and fundamental freedoms, sovereignty, independence, unity and the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova,” promised the ministers.
President Nicolae Timofti said the new executive’s task is to manage in a way that will bring peace in society and will restore the contacts with the development partners. The coming period will be full of responsibilities and challenges that will have to be dealt with. The implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU and the resumption of the projects in all the areas are among the priorities. Step by step, things in Moldova should be returned to normality.
Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said that Moldova enters a new stage. The situation is difficult and each member of the Cabinet realizes the tasks they will have to undertake. Maximum mobilization is required. Each member of the new Government will devote time and energy to the accomplishment of the assumed tasks and to the implementation of a set of measures aimed at ensuring stability in the country.
Parliament on July 30 gave a vote of confidence to the Government headed by Valeriu Strelet. The Cabinet was invested by the votes of 52 MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party. The MPs of the Party of Socialists and the Party of Communists voted against, while unaffiliated lawmakers Iurie Leanca, Eugen Carpov and Nicolae Juravschi abstained.
