“Mihai Ghimpu thought it was possible to get both Plahotniuc’s money and people’s votes, but he was wrong. Plahotniuc knows how to manage and monitor access to his funds”, Anti-mafia leader Sergiu Mocanu said during a press conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Mocanu, Vlad Plahotniuc indirectly funded the Liberal Party’s campaign, and this collaboration between Plahotniuc and Ghimpu will disillusion many supporters. “I don’t think this partnership has a definite purpose for Ghimpu. More likely he fell in a trap following his initially noble goals. Dreaming about Basarabia’s liberation from Russian occupation, he thought this can be done with mafia’s dirty money”, said Mocanu. The Anti-mafia Movement leader claims the general prosecutor was named and kept in charge because of Mihai Ghimpu’s insistence. Sergiu Mocanu promised to present other details after the Movement's assembly on March 6, when delegates will be proposed to support the Movement’s upgrade to a political party.
