Construction works on the gas man Iasi-Ungheni will be completed by the end of 2013, as provided by the Moldo-Romanian cooperation agreement on energy security, which was signed today in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The document also provides the construction of the power lines Suceava-Balti (400 kV) and Falciu-Gotesti (110 kV). Besides this document, Moldovan PM Vlad Filat and his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta also signed an agreement in the field of education, which secures 5,000 university places for Moldovan students annually for the next three years. Additionally, an action plan between the justice ministries was signed. “Prime Minister Ponta's visit today represents a natural continuity of the Moldo-Romanian relationship, and also of the joint meeting of the two governments, which took place in Iasi in March. At today's meeting we reviewed the main subjects related to the cooperation between our countries and agreed on a well-structured action plan”, Vlad Filat told a press conference after the meeting. Victor Ponta reiterated that Moldova can always count on Romania as on a best friend and reliable ally. He also noted that electrical interconnection is important for both countries. The Moldovan and Romanian ministers of transport agreed today what further bridges across the Nistru will be opened for traffic, and those of agriculture agreed to implement measures to improve access for Moldovan farmers to Romania's and other markets. The total cost of the Ungheni-Iasi gas main is 20 million euros, 7 million of which will be offered by the European Commission. Later today PM Victor Ponta has meethings scheduled with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, Speaker Marian Lupu and Liberal Party leader Mihai Ghimpu. This is Victor Ponta's first official visit in his capacity as Prime Minister.
