Moldova subscribes to European penalties against particular Ukrainians

Moldova aligned itself with the March 5 decision of the European Council whereby penalties are imposed on Ukrainian citizens responsible for the violent clashes in Ukraine, which resulted in the death of several dozen people. The information was confirmed by Head of Parliament Igor Corman after the closed-door meeting centering on national security in the regional context, IPN reports.

The Speaker said the decision was taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in cooperation with other ministries. The penalties apply to 18 persons form Ukraine.

Communist MP Grigore Petrenco said it is regrettable that the Foreign Ministry took such a decision without consulting Parliament. The fact that Prime Minister Iurie Leanca accepted this decision is even more serious.

The penalties include the freezing of the funds and economic resources of these persons.
