Though the Tricolors were in the lead with two goals scored by Igor Dima and Maxim Iurcu, the Greeks eventually leveled the score courtesy to a double by Dimitrios Diamantakos. The result placed Greece on the first position in the standings. In the second encounter of the group, Italy were surprisingly defeated 2-0 by Norway, which snatched the second available ticket to the next round of the competition.
