The Party “Moldova Unita” (“United Moldova”) cooperated with no international organization, especially such as Russia’s FSB, former chairwoman of the party Ana Tcaci told a news conference at Info-Prim Neo on September 6.
“We are indignant that some of the political leaders make groundless, aberrant and irresponsible Communist- and KGB-like statements about “Moldova Unita”. This unverified information that the party was supported by the FSB, which was communicated by Marian Lupu to the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry in 2009 and recently published by Wikileaks, discredits the party in general and every member in particular,” said Ana Tcaci.
She stressed that the appearance of such misleading information in the media shows that the politicians do not bear responsibility for their statements. “It is regrettable that a ruler misinformed the embassies working in Moldova. We are even more disappointed because Marian Lupu did not have an official meeting with the leader of “Moldova Unita” either in 2009 or later,” said Ana Tcaci, who now heads the Party for Moldova’s Union.
She also said that there was held only one meeting in 2009 with an emissary of Marian Lupu, when he was a member of the PCRM. But during that meeting they did not discuss which forces support “Moldova Unita”.
“Both “Moldova Unita” and the Political Party for Moldova’s Union have permanently pleaded for defending the democratic and pro-European values of Moldova and struggled with the totalitarian, antidemocratic regime,” said Ana Tcaci, suggesting that the false statements about “Moldova Unita” may have been fabricated by the PCRM.
The press reported earlier that according to diplomatic notes disclosed by Wikileaks, in 2009 Marian Lupu told the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova that the Party “Moldova Unita” would have been supported by the Russian FSB (Federal Security Service).
