Moldova uses most progressive methods of organizing primary medical assistance, EC expert
Moldova has implemented the most progressive methods of organizing the primary medical assistance and made effort to modernize the primary medical assistance clinics, considers Dumitru Maximenko, a representatives of the European Commission's Mission, who has been in Moldova on a visit between September 14 and 25 to assess the progress in implementing the budget support program “Assistance in Reforming Moldova's Healthcare Sector”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The €46.6 million program was launched with the support of the European Commission and is designed to assist the Government of Moldova in financing reforms in healthcare.
The program envisions the implementation of the national health policy and the actions stated in the healthcare development strategy for 2008-2017, which aims to continuously improve the public health and the access to medical services, increase efficiency and quality of the healthcare services and make the management of public finances in the healthcare sector more efficient.
The grant will be provided in three tranches. The first tranche was disbursed in the first quarter of 2009, while the other two tranches will be released in the first quarters of 2010 and 2011, on condition that the requirements stipulated in the financing agreement are met. Under the financing agreement, the second tranche will be freed up if the measures planned for 2008 and 2009 are implemented.
