Moldova will be visited by foreign high-ranking officials

A number of foreign high-ranking officials will visit Moldova on the invitation of Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet. The invitations were made within the70th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly. Among the invitees are the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev, IPN reports.

In a press briefing centering on the results of the Moldovan delegation’s visit to the U.S, Valeriu Strelet said that the participation in the session of the UN General Assembly and the bilateral meetings with government officials of other states confirmed the continuation of an active political and diplomatic dialogue with Moldova’s partners at international level and the maintenance of support for the official Chisinau’s efforts to promote the reforms needed to modernize the country’s European agenda.

In the meeting with the UN Secretary General, Valeriu Strelet underlined the important role played by the UN agencies and programs in the process of providing assistance for Moldova’s development and of building confidence within the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. He also highlighted the possibility for Moldova to become an important supplier of food products within the UN programs and reiterated the invitation to pay a visit to Moldova. According to the Premier, the visit could be made next year.

Referring to the meeting with the President of Bulgaria, Valeriu Strelet said they discussed aspects of the Moldovan-Bulgarian cooperation and the prospects for developing the partnership relations during the next few years. The Bulgarian head of state confirmed his readiness to visit Moldova in the near future.

The Premier noted that he also had discussions with the Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Dana J. Hyde, which centered on the positive experience gained by Moldova and on the successful implementation of the Compact in our country.

The Prime Minister also had bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Romania and Lithuania, with the Prime Ministers of Georgia and Sweden and with other high-ranking officials of U.S. governmental institutions.
