Moldovans caught smuggling wild garlic into Russia
Russian customs officers found over 800 kilograms of wild garlic in the baggage of passengers and in conductors’ cars on the Chisinau-Moscow train. All the given persons were Moldovans, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Bryansk customs administration.
Under the Russian legislation, when taken into another country, the wild garlic must be accompanied by phytosanitray certificates issued by the competent bodies. Four persons were held accountable in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia. The merchandise was sent back to Moldova.
The Bryansk customs administration says such offenses are often identified in the trains going through Bryansk. The passengers try to transport commercial goods as products for personal use without having quality certificates.
