Moldova's Goian hopeful ahead of European U-19 C'ship qualifiers
Ahead of the preliminary round of the 2009 European Under-19 Championship, hosted by Moldova during October 2-7, Moldova's coach Vlad Goian told a news conference on Wednesday that the goal of the tricolor squad is to qualify for the Finals, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Goian says that Moldova has been drown in a very tough group, alongside Italy, Russia and Latvia, yet he remains confident that his squad will succeed.
“The players fielded for the upcoming games have enough professional experience: most of them are in the first eleven at their clubs. We've played a number of friendlies with redoubtable teams, which pointed our weaknesses and strengths, and this might help us in our qualification quest”, he said.
Goian also sought to express his conviction that Chisinau's football fans will come to the stadium to cheer for the tricolor squad in the crucial games to be played Thursday against Russia and Saturday against Italy.
“I'll try to get a good sleep at night and I'll tell my players to do the same”, said the coach concluding the conference.
