“Moldova’s Patriots” Party does not recognize election outcome

The Party “Moldova’s Patriots” (PPM) announced that it does not recognize the results of the November 30 parliamentary elections. According to supporters of the party, the elections must be invalidated as there were committed many violations, including the limitation of the right to vote of the hundreds of thousands of Moldovans who are Russia, the removal of an election contender two days before the elections and the illegal participation of the Communist Reformist Party in the elections. Such statements were made in a news conference at IPN.

“The November 30 elections were rigged with unprecedented impudence. About 1 million people were excluded from the electoral process. Most of them are in Russia, where five polling places instead of 300 were established for 800,000 Moldovans. Thus, with exceptional cynicism, there were violated simultaneously several basic rights of one third of the country’s population eligible to vote, even if the Russian authorities allowed using the polling places where the Russians usually vote,” said former minister of national security and supporter of the PPM Anatol Plugaru, reading a message from the leader of the PPM Mihai Garbuz.

“For such mockery towards the own people, time in jail is served in other countries. In all the cases, those who are responsible for the organization of elections – the members of the Central Election Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government – are discharged from public service. In our country, which is a captured one, the usurpers of the power, after driving the people away from the country and taking their last piece of bead in Moldova, deprived them of several basic rights, including the right to elect and be elected, the right to take part in the administration of state affairs, the right to be represented in the state bodies, the right to be informed, the right to freedom of expression, the right to put up resistance to the power in case of dissatisfaction, etc.”

Anatol Plugaru also criticized the authorities for the failure of the electronic register of voters for which tens of millions of lei was spent from the state budget, and for keeping a similar voter turnout in the elections of the last few years, which is suspicious at a time when so many Moldovans emigrate. “Therefore, the Party “Moldova’s Patriots” considers that the only legal and civilized solution for removing such wrongdoings is to invalidate these elections,” he stated.

The PPM announced that if the authorities ignore this request, they will stage protests and will call on the other parliamentary parties – the PCRM and PSRM - to join them in the effort to obtain the invalidation of the elections.
