Moldova's Science Academy announces contest “Scientist of year 2008 – ECONOM”

Researchers are invited to join a national contest called “Scientist of year 2008 – ECONOM”. The contest is organized for the fifth time by the Moldovan Science Academy (MSA) and Banca de Economii, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the the press unit of the MSA, the intellectual contest aims at speeding up the research-development activity in Moldova and to increase its efficiency in terms of attracting foreign and local investments to apply scientific attainments in practice. The following awards will be conferred in the contest: “Scientist of the year in humanities”, “Scientist of the year in real science”, “The young scientist of the year in humanities” and “The young scientist of the year in real science”. The first two awards will be accompanied by prizes of 50,000 lei, the other two – 30,000 lei. The maximum age for the 'young scientist' award is 35 years. The assessment will be done on the basis of scientific results attained in 2008. Priority will be granted to works with positive impact on the development of the national science and economy. The files and photos shall be lodged with the MSA till November 10.
