The conduct of exams in the educational institutions of eight districts was mostly regular and without incidents. At the same time, some of the district evaluation commissions have retained old defective evaluation practices. There were cases when the grade was increased by 15 points on a 50-point scale, revealed Minister of Education Dan Perciun in a press conference.
The minister said a re-evaluation was done on a 30% sample of tests for each exam discipline for each educational institution in the 8 districts. In total, more than 4 thousand tests were reevaluated.
In districts such as Cimișlia, Șoldănești or Drochia, the district evaluation commissions largely complied with the rules, with the grading scale being applied adequately. At the opposite pole are the districts of Cahul, Rezina and Dubăsari, where large differences were found between the points awarded, from 5 to 15 points more in some tests from certain educational institutions. Thus, it was decided that in 13 institutions in these districts, all the tests written by the graduates of the 9th grades will be fully re-evaluated.
According to the minister, these revaluations have shown that there is a systemic problem in many districts when it comes to the correctness of the evaluation. It is very clear who those examiners are who consistently graded students inappropriately. Also, the exercise revealed that there is a need for a better monitoring of the activity of the educational directorates, of the examination commissions at district level so that such deviations are prevented.
The conclusions of the reviews have been sent to all those concerned and the results of the internal investigations are awaited.
The educational institutions were also identified where the information leaks that led to the publication of the tests during the exam took place. Official inquiries have been launched into these actions.
