Most homicides recorded since the beginning of this year in Chisinau occurred in Botanica district. Compared with previous years, their number has increased, and most were committed under the influence. The information was presented today by Botanica District Prosecutor Marcel Cimbir at a news conference. Ten homicides were committed in the first 10 months and, according to the Prosecutor, 8 of them involved drinking. Marcel Cimbir said that all the homicide cases were solved but much work still needs to be done to prevent such crimes. According to Marcel Cimbir, the most serious case took place in late August, when a 15-year-old, while being heavily drunk, stabbed three men in an apartment, one of whom died. The teenager tried to run, but fainted shortly. A week later he died in hospital and the cause of the death remains unannounced. In a similar stabbing case in September, a 35-year-old man visiting his girlfriend at the Mother and Child Hospitality stabbed the woman several times to her death. In 2011, seven homicides occurred in Botanica, and eight cases in 2010 and 2009. All the perpetrators were identified, according to the prosecutors.
