The PAS group voted down a censure motion against Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gherciu tabled by the Communists&Socialists.

The motion was introduced on June 2. According to the Communists&Socialists, more than nine months since taking office, Gherciu has been unable to improve the “terrible” situation in agriculture and food industry, despite an abundant season last year that “normally should have had our country covered in terms of food security for several years to come”. “But the managerial skills of the minister does not allow the continuous development of the sector and does not provide secure access of the population to agri-food products, (while people face) limited access due to a rapid increase in prices and diminished purchasing power”, they declared.

After Viorel Gherciu’s defense speech and ensuing debates, the motion was rejected.
