MP suggests reducing period of renting areas in public hospitals

A lawmaker proposed that the unused areas in public hospitals should be leased out for at most three years. Currently, the rental period cannot exceed 49 years. Bill author Oxana Domenti said that many public hospitals during the last few years have allowed private individuals or legal entities to use a part of their areas and now cannot take them back because these areas are denationalized by illegal schemes, IPN reports.

Vadim Pistrinciuc, a member of the Parliament’s commission on social protection, health and family, said this bill is welcome and the arguments are exact, but the period of three years is too short for a person who wants to invest in the provision of services, like palliative services, for example. There are hospitals that use only 50% of their areas. Thus, these areas can be leased out, but for a reasonable period of time. “By setting the term of three years, we can place obstacles to persons who really want to do something,” he stated.

Another member Valentina Stratan said the rental period can be at most five years.

The examination of the bill was postponed for another meeting.
