The MPs who were prohibited from taking part in five sittings of Parliament appealed the decision to court. They consider that the procedure defined in the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure was neglected, IPN reports.

“Various punishments are stipulated, starting with the warning and ending with the ban on attending up to 10 sittings of Parliament. We, the MPs of “Victory” bloc, on the day in question blocked the Parliament’s rostrum in protest at the inappropriate behavior of the Speaker of Parliament – the attempt to every time close the microphone without reason, to formulate sometimes offensive replies aimed at MPs. It was a natural response, a reaction to what the Speaker of Parliament did,” MP Vasile Bolea told the press.

According to him, as a result of the blocking of the rostrum, it was decided to impose all the penalties stipulated in the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, without them being applied gradually, as it is provided. “This is a violation of the legislation. I included all the arguments here, in the complaint. We believe that the court will examine it during a short period of time and will provide a positive solution to our requests,” said Vasile Bolea.

In mid-June, seven MPs close to fugitive Ilan Shor were banned from attending five plenary sittings of Parliament after they blocked the central rostrum in the plenary session. Against the background of chants, the head of the legislature, Speaker Igor Grosu, asked the seven MPs to unblock the rostrum, but they refused. “I gave you warning, I called you to order. The punishment in the form of ban on speaking was also applied. We tell you that we are in a position to apply letter f) the prohibition of participation in plenary sittings for a duration of up to 10 sittings. I make use of my right as Speaker of Parliament to impose the prohibition of participation in five plenary sittings,” stated the Speaker at the time.
