MPs have diverging opinions on 2013 results

2013 was a failed year for the Communists, who wanted early elections. However, the governing coalition managed to move beyond disputes and overcame the crisis. The statement was made by Liberal-Democrat MP Valeriu Strelet at a talk-show on ProTV. On the other hand, Communist lawmaker Artur Resetnicov replied that the Communists' loss was also the loss of many other Moldovans. Democrat Dumitru Diacov was more conciliatory, saying that the government and the opposition should find issues for which to join their forces and stop harassing each other, IPN reports.

Valeriu Strelet said that in 2013, Moldova's economy grew, the country sealed the Association Agreement with the EU and the political crisis was overcome, thus ensuring the stability of the country. He accused the Communists of making every effort to cause early elections while the government was passing key bills.

Communist Artur Resetnicov claims that hundreds of thousands of Moldovans lost together with the Communist Party. He said that since the current coalition came into power, no new jobs were created, pensions and wages didn't grow and the agreement sealed with the EU was in English only and the people couldn't understand it.

Democrat MP Dumitru Diacov joined the debate and said that the opposition should also recognize the governing parties' achievements and try to strengthen itself alongside them for the good of the country.

On January 13, the MPs returned from the winter recess and started their work in the parliamentary commissions. By the end of February, the spring-summer session of the Legislative will begin.
