Aliona Gota, of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group, announced that she withdraws from the parliamentary majority created to field a candidate on behalf of the Democratic Party for the post of Prime Minister. Lib-Dem Vladimir Hotineanu has told IPN that he will also withdraw if the PDM does not change the candidate and insists on Vlad Plahotniuc. Acting chairman of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet stated for IPN that more colleagues of theirs are expected to leave the majority.
On a social networking site, Aliona Gota wrote that the decision to sign for the formation of a parliamentary majority was consulted with colleagues from districts. “I said that the political instability in our country clearly leads to early elections, while from there we will get into the hands of those who openly serve Moscow’s interests. I said that it was the wish of the voters and, in the created situation, there is no alternative to the coalition between the PLDM, PDM and PL. I decided to sign for forming the parliamentary majority. I signed namely for this and I noted this fact near my signature,” said the MP.
She also wrote that if this majority insists on the nomination of only one personage and the real pro-Europeans are not promoted, she will withdraw her signature and will detach herself from this list. “I will remain near my colleagues alongside whom I travelled through mud and heat during so many election campaigns and every time hoped that this time it will be better,” said Aliona Gota.
Meanwhile, during a protest mounted near the Parliament Building, the chairman of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi said that two Liberal MPs also oppose the decision of the party’s administration to join this parliamentary majority and intend to leave the parliamentary group.
