The mayors, deputy mayors, district heads and deputy district heads could benefit from bonuses of up to 50% of the monthly salary. The legislative initiative providing for this, which was proposed by a group of Democratic MPs, was adopted by Parliament in the first reading on July 20, IPN reports.
The amendments authorize the district and local councils to raise the salaries of employees of the social sphere units of villages and towns, based on the additional revenues collected into the local budget, by up to 20% of the pay.
The payments will be made for the effectively worked period of time, proportionally to the monthly set salary. The technical and other ancillary personnel of the local public authorities will benefit from bonuses of up to 15% of the salary.
The rapporteur, Democratic MP Eugen Nichiforciuc said a sum of 27 million lei has been identified for the purpose.
According to the authors, the goal is to attract and keep the young specialists in rural areas and to stimulate the self-management possibilities of the local budgets.
