Given the ban imposed by Russia on the import of Moldovan fruit, vegetables and cans, the Russian consumers will be affected as they will not be supplied with the agricultural products to which they got used, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman said in an interview for Radio Free Europe, IPN reports.
The minister said a delegation consisting of experts of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration went to Moscow to hold a new round of consultations centering on the economic-commercial relations.
“All the problems that appeared or can appear in the future must be solved exclusively by dialogue. Moldova didn’t stop the attempts to promote this dialogue with the Russian partners,” said the official.
Natalia Gherman noted that though Russia man an unfriendly gesture by stopping imports of Moldovan products, this element of the relations must be discussed at expert level and the conclusions will be drawn afterward. “I repeat, we are for dialogue in any conditions,” she stated.
The minister also said that Moldova will reorient its exports to the EU member states and other regions and countries. The Arab countries, including Qatar, could import an increased quantity of Moldovan agricultural products. “A delegation headed by Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov is now in the U.S. They are discussing the possibility of exporting more wine products to this country,” she stated.
Last September, Russia banned the import of Moldovan wine, while earlier this month, of fresh and canned fruit and vegetables from Moldova.
