“The Government does not have time for adjustment. We must start work as the peace and stability in our country depends on our results,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in the opening of the first meeting of the new Cabinet held in the evening of January 21, IPN reports.

Filip said the new Cabinet takes up in a very tense atmosphere. Solutions to the problems highlighted not only by the properties, but also by the people who didn’t take to the streets should be identified as swiftly as possible.

According to him, the long period of uncertainty led to large arrears in almost all the areas of activity. The ministers should forget about politics and the personal life. Assistance in service will be provided first of all to the new members of the Cabinet.

The Premier reiterated that issuing an invitation to the IMF to come to Moldova to negotiate a new cooperation program is the first thing that must be done. “The people’s safety is our key priority. I do not refer to protests or to only the protests. I refer to the financial and social safety of the people. We must hasten the approval of the 2016 draft state budget and submit it to Parliament so that the country has a budget, the institutions worked in the appropriate way and the people are no way affected,” he stated.

After a succinct exchange of opinions, it was decided that the 2016 draft state budget on which the previous Cabinet also worked will be examined and approved in two weeks. The Prime Minister instructed Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan to ensure the functioning of the working group responsible for maintaining public order in connection with the protests mounted in Chisinau.

“I ask you to show care for the people’s safety and maximum determination as regards the holding accountable of those who resorted to violence and provocations as these must be prevented,” he said, addressing Alexandru Jizdan.

Pavel Filip reiterated to call for calm, addressed both to the people and the police.
