New entrant to rankings of most influential parties

The Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Communist Party remain the most influential political parties in Moldova, according to the Top 10 rankings compiled on the initiative of the Institute for Political Analysis and Consultancy “Politicon”. The surprise of the October rankings is the entry of the Party ”Motherland”, which takes the sixth position. According to “Politicon”, this party is the ‘packing’ of the political project of Renato Usatyi, IPN reports.

The Liberal Party is on the fourth spot, the Party of Socialists on the fifth, the Liberal Reformist Party on the seventh, the People’s Movement “Antimafie” on the eight, the National Liberal Party on the ninth, and the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova on the tenth.

“Politicon” considers that the upper part of the Top 10 is occupied by parties that can transform the political influence into electoral support. “The electoral chances of the parties that are in the lower part of the rankings are more theoretical than practical. Down from the seventh position taken by the Liberal Reformist Party, practically no party has palpable chances of entering Parliament after the November 30 elections,” the Institute says in a comment.

The October rankings of the ten most influential parties were compiled with the assistance of 31 experts. The assessment criteria included the parties’ real influence on the political process in Moldova, public performance, presence in the mass media, activism of the local organizations, and the ability of the party leaders to be electoral driving forces for the own parties.
