New German Ambassador handed accreditation letters to President Nicolae Timofti

New German Ambassador to Moldova Matthias Meyer handed on Tuesday, August 21, the accreditation letters to President Nicolae Timofti. The Head of the State and the diplomat talked about the situation of the political, economic, and cultural relations between Germany and Moldova, reports Info-Prim Neo. According to a communique from the German Embassy to Chisinau, Matthias Meyer reiterated Germany’s commitment to continue drawing Moldova closer to the European Union and to the resolution of the Transnistrian conflict. Germany will continue supporting the reformation process that has started in Moldova. The discussion also mentioned the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to Chisinau, on August 22. Ambassador Meyer is the sixth Ambassador since Moldova’s declaration of independence. Matthias Meyer has worked at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at Germany’s Embassies to Cairo, Barcelona, Dushanbe, Tashkent, Tripoli, Kabul, and others. Ambassador Matthias Meyer was born on January 12, 1952, in Hohenfelde, Stormarn district of Schleswig-Holstein land.
