The members of the Council of the Great National Assembly reserved the right to organize soon a new large-scale protest in Chisinau if the administration and the law enforcement bodies do not satisfy the protesters’ demand to immediately arrest and prosecute Ilan Shor and Vladimir Plahotniuc. In a statement adopted on October 27, these ascertain with concern that the Republic of Moldova continues to be a captured state where the power was and continues to be usurped by an organized criminal group led by Vlad Plahotnuc, IPN reports.
The statement says that even if the country’s population has protested for almost one year, demanding that the state and the institutions controlled by the criminal oligarchs should be freed from captivity, none of the demands was met. One of the suspects investigated in the case of the bank swindles, Vlad Filat, was arrested for 30 days, but the other culprits continue to be on the outside, while the billions stolen from the people haven’t been recovered yet.
The members of the Council of the Great National Assembly call on the employees of the Ministry of the Interior to leave their arms, to take the side of the protesters and to stop defending the ruling oligarchs. “When the Prosecutor General’s Office is captured, we consider it is absolutely necessary for the Constitutional Court to intervene and ascertain the captivity of the state and the law enforcement bodies,” reads the statement.
The Council’s members also call upon the international organizations, embassies working in Moldova and the development partners to support people’s demands and to exert pressure on the oligarchs so that these do not interfere in the activity of the law enforcement and regulatory bodies and stop blackmailing through real or fabricated criminal cases against MPs, ministers, the Premier, the President and the state in general, while the government starts to immediately satisfy people’s demands in stages.
