The parliamentary group of the Party of Action and Solidarity has a new member. This is Veronica Briceag, a substitute candidate on the PAS lists, whose seat of MP was validated by the Constitutional Court, IPN reports.
On Tuesday, the Court took such a decision following a request made by the Central Election Commission. CEC secretary Alexandr Berlinskii said that on January 23, the Commission took note of the Parliament’s decision by which the seat of MP was declared vacant. When taking the decision to propose validating the seat of MP, the statements of the next substitute candidates Iurie Melinte and Victoria Butuc-Guranda by which the two refused the seat of MP, were taken into account.
Thus, it was proposed to validate the seat of MP of substitute candidate Veronica Briceag, who currently heads the Office of the Minister of Environment and is also a PAS councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council. As a result of validation, she will renounce her post on the CMC. Veronica Briceag, 43, is an accountant by profession.
“I know that within 30 days I have to vacate the post of municipal councilor I hold at the moment in order to obtain the seat of MP. I will fully comply,” said Veronica Briceag.
The seat of MP fell vacant after Galina Sajin tendered her resignation.
