New parliamentary commission to be set up

Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu suggests constituting a new parliamentary commission in addition to the ten existing commissions. This will be the Public Finances Commission whose duties will include the ensuring of the legal framework for external public auditing, organization of the supreme audit institution and annual examination of the audit reports of the Court of Auditors and audited entities. This is provided in a bill that was registered in Parliament, IPN reports.

Under the bill, the commission will ensure parliamentary control over the activity of the central public authorities, local public authorities and other entities subject to external public auditing so as to make sure that the legislation on the formation and utilization of public finances is obeyed.

Bill author Andrian Candu in the informative note says the goal of the draft law is to create instruments of consolidated cooperation between Parliament and the Court of Auditors. The law will help ensure transparency by providing Parliament with comprehensive information about the general efficiency of the use of the national public budget for the people’s benefit.

The commission will consist of nine persons. Simultaneously, each of the ten existing commissions will lose by a member.
