New president appointed at Chisinau Court of Appeals

Former member of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Ion Plesca was named president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals under a decision taken by the Supreme Council of Magistrates on July 26, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ion Plesca told the journalists he will do his utmost to bring about changes in the legal system of Moldova. “I will make effort to improve the image of justice in society. Together with the colleagues from the Court of Appeals, I will make everything possible for the people to be sure that justice will be made to them if they go to court,” he said. Eight candidates competed for the post of president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals. Four of them attended the meeting of the Supreme Council of Magistrates. Among the candidates was Anatolie Doga, who held the post until now. Ion Plesca worked as a judge at the Botanica district court and then was a member of the Supreme Council of Magistrates. While he served as an MP representing the AMN, he headed the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities. In the same meeting, the Supreme Council of Magistrates examined the applications of the candidates for president of the Cahul Court of Appeals and for president of the Bender Court of Appeals. Judge Ghenadie Eni was appointed president in Cahul. In Bender, only Mihail Antonov submitted an application, but he served two terms in office and cannot compete for the post anymore.
