The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) approved of the Regulation on water supply and drainage in the Chisinau municipality on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, Info-Prim Neo reports. The document regulates the relations between the water consumer and supplier, highlights their rights and duties. The act establishes the correct evaluation of the volume of water consumed, encourages consumers to sign direct contracts with the supplier concerning the supply and drainage, but also the installation and verification of meters. They can also agree on a special charge, if the consumer wants so. Up to now, because of not paying for the total volume of water provided to dwelling blocks, as shown by the difference in bills, the block managers have incurred debts of 163M lei to SA Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC). The new regulation establishes new methods of monitoring and billing the water consumed, as Apa-Canal will favor the users of meters approved by it.
