New term for National Institute of Justice graduates
The graduates of the National Institute of Justice will be able to apply for the post of judge and prosecutors three years after graduation as well. On September 13, the Constitutional Court ruled that the provision of the Law on the National Institute of Justice that obliges the graduates to take part in contests to fill the given posts within three years of graduation is unconstitutional, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Constitutional Court examined the issue after Communist MP Sergiu Sarbu filed a relevant application, invoking the limitation of a number of constitutional rights and violation of the principle of guaranteeing the obtained rights as the given restriction deprives the graduates of the useful effect of the studies and of the possibility of using the obtained qualifications.
“The decision of the Constitutional Court showed again that the present administration does not intend to reform the legal system and promote only their own political interests. This decision opens opportunities for young specialists. The judiciary can be thus renewed as there are competent persons who can improve the legal system. The ruling alliance only speaks about reforms, but does nothing,” said Sergiu Sarbu.
The Constitutional Court is to submit a note to Parliament, recommending removing the legislative shortcoming identified when examining the given case.
