Nicolae Negru: End result of discussions between Igor Dodon and parties depends not on President, but on parties

The end result of the discussions launched by President Igor Dodon with the political parties that entered Parliament depends not on the President, but on parties. For now the conclusions cannot be predicted, editorialist Nicolae Negru was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Country” on Vocea Basarabiei TV channel."

The journalist said that by issuing the invitation to discussions to parties, Igor Dodon fulfils his duties in accordance with Moldova’s Constitution. The President should also invite the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor to discussions, not only the leaders of the PDM, PSRM and ACUM. “Mister Dodon is probably angry with Mister Shor because this ‘stole’ a part of his voters as the over 8% won by the Shor Party definitely came from the electors who would have voted the PSRM,” stated Nicolae Negru.

“What I do not see is pluralism in these parties or this pluralism exists, but cannot be seen.”

Director of the Gheorghe Asachi Lyceum Boris Volosatyi, former candidate for MP, said the current Parliament has only one wing as no pure party of the right entered the legislative body. “We do not have a right wing. We have only center and left wings. There is no compromise as regards our path to European integration. They say the bloc ACUM goes hand in hand with the PDM towards ensuring this path, but this cannot be seen. Any other formula would mean stagnation or revision of these positions,” he stated.

According to Boris Volosatyi, the Republic of Moldova cannot wait for the formation of a coalition for too long as there is no mechanism that would work in the absence of an appointed Prime Minister.

On March 25, President Igor Dodon invited the Party of Socialists (PSRM), the Democratic Party (PDM) and the electoral bloc ACUM to discussions on the formation of a parliamentary majority or on the possible snap elections. The leaders of the three parties were invited to come, in turn, to the State Residence situated on Nicolae Iorga St in Chisinau on March 26.
