President Nicolae Timofti on January 27 will have consultations with four parliamentary groups with a view to designating a candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The factions of the PLDM, PDM, PCRM and PL were invited to the State Residence, IPN reports.
The consultations with the Liberal-Democratic MPs start at 2:15pm, with the Democratic MPs - at 3pm, with the Communist lawmakers – at 3:45pm, while with the Liberal MPs – at 4:30pm.
On January 13, Nicolae Timofti met with the Socialist faction, which is the largest in Parliament. Its leaders said they will not change their position and will not take part in the formation of a government coalition with the parties that do not accept their conditions.
After the candidate for premiership is designated by the head of state, within 15 days he/she asks for the Parliament’s vote of confidence for the government program and the nominal composition of the Cabinet.
Last week, when the PLDM and PDM formed the government coalition, the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat told the journalists that the Government will be elected during at most two weeks and that their faction will field Iurie Leanca for the post of Premier.
