Nicolae Timofti took part in March of Dignity in Kiev

The President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti took part in the March of Dignity in Kiev on February 22. The event marked one year of the pro-European protests staged in the Independence Square (Maidan) of the Ukrainian capital, in which dozens of protesters and police officers were killed, IPN reports.

According to the presidential press service, the head of state, alongside Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko and European officials, marched through the center of Kiev towards the Independence Square, where there was held s service in memory of the victims of last year’s bloody events.

While in Kiev, Nicolae Timofti had unofficial discussions with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko and with the European leaders who attended the ceremony, including the President of the European Council Donald Tusk, President of Germany Joachim Gauck, President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski, President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, President of Slovakia Andrej Kiska, and the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili.
