Nine men aged between 19 and 59 were fined sums of up to 3,000 lei after being caught playing cards for money in a place in Soroca town, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the place was hired by one of the players aged 52, who earlier used that area for trade. At the spot, the police found packs of playing cards and money. The participants declared that the players were to pay fees ranging from 100 to 500 lei.
The police said all the nine card players were earlier tried for different offenses and some of them served time in jail.
