NOC denies having concealed doping cases
The National Olympic Committee of Moldova (NOC) has specified in a statement that Natalia Artac (discus throw) and Marina Marghieva (hammer throw) from Moldova’s Olympic squad were accused of violating anti-doping rules before the Games in a confidential letter sent to the National Federation, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The NOC says that according to international procedures of doping control, the confirmation of doping substances in the body is done through counter-expertise- analysis of test B. If the result of test A is confirmed, the International Federation issues an official notice regarding the violation of anti-doping regulations.
Without an official notice, NOC couldn’t make any declarations before the Olympics that the athletes used forbidden substances. Thus, NOC rejects accusations that the information was held a secret intentionally.
NOC has reiterated its condemnatory stance towards doping cases in sports. NOC supports the international community’s anti-doping efforts aimed at eliminating this negative phenomenon.
Yesterday, August 2, several media outlets reported that the two athletes tested positive at the doping control even before going to London. That was why they stayed in Chisinau, despite being on the list of the Moldovan Olympic squad.
Yesterday evening, another Moldovan athlete Zalina Marghiev posted on a social network that the girls are innocent, but the problem was that Moldova lacked a good specialist doctor and modern laboratory for doping tests.
