The number of ballots cast in the June 5, 2011 local elections that were declared invalid is lower than in the June 3, 2007 local elections, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Central Election Commission. There were invalidated 2.73% of the ballots given to the municipal councils (Chisinau, Balti) and the district councils, as against 4.51% in the elections of 2007. There were declared invalid 3.01% of the ballots for the town councils of Comrat municipality, as opposed to 4.27% in 2007. 1.98% of the ballots were invalidated this year in the election of mayors of towns, the municipality of Comrat and villages, in contrast to 2.35% in 2007. Also, the invalidated ballots cast for the mayor general of Chisinau represented 1.9% of the total ballots, as against 2.41% in 2007. In the municipality of Balti, the ratio is 1.46%:2.08%. According to the Central Election Commission, the figures shows that the voters know better the electoral procedures, also due to the voter information campaigns carried out by the electoral authority.
