Songs under Mihai Eminescu's verses, poems in Romanian, Gagauzian, Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian were sang and recited at the Nationalities House on January 15, on the 160th anniversary of the famous poet. The commemoration program organized by the Interethnic Relations Bureau also included reports about the life and work of Mihai Eminescu. The event was attended by scientists, representatives of ethno-cultural organizations, linguists, historians, anthropologists and students of the Chisinau schools, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We want to tell all the people of good faith and all the ethnic groups that Eminescu's values are very important to us,” said Vera Petuhov, vice director general of the Interethnic Relations Bureau. “We have the possibility of preserving the languages of the national minorities here. Eminescu's poems will be recited in different languages.” The book “Blue Flower” printed in 2001 was discussed during the event. It includes Eminescu's works translated into the languages of the national minorities. The organizers suggested adding new translations to the book by January 15, 2011. “We want that all Eminescu's poems that are translated into over 70 languages be included in the given book,” said Elena Beleacova, director of the Interethnic Relations Bureau. Academician, literary critic and writer Constantin Popovich presented the book “Mihai Eminescu. Life and Work. “Mihai Eminescu worked in different areas. He was a remarkable philosopher and journalist. His works are full of variety and complexity,” he said. The vocal group “Prometeu” of the high school with the same name, sang songs under the poet's verses. An exhibition of paintings, books written by Eminescu and about Eminescu, postage stamps, envelopes, coins, banknotes with the name and face of Eminescu on them was set up in the hall of the Interethnic Relations Bureau. Mihai Eminescu was born on January 15, 1850 in Botosani. Events dedicated to the great poet are held on this day in most of the Moldovan settlements.
