One more MP defects from Communists to Democrats

One more MP who entered Parliament on the Communist ticket joined the Democratic parliamentary group. The announcement was made in the February 8 sitting of the legislative, IPN reports.

This is Aliona Babiuc, a substitute candidate on the Communist ticket who took up the post after Communist MP Oxana Domenti vacated her seat. Initially, Babiuc said she will act as an independent.

The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin described Babiuc’s decision to join the Democrats as political prostitution.

In 2017, 14 MPs who entered the legislative body on the Communist ticket joined the Democratic group.

The Democrats today had one more reason for celebrating – the 21st anniversary of the party’s foundation.
