More than 200 leakages occurred in the municipality of Chisinau last week following the melting of the frozen water in pipes, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the April 2 meeting of City Hall officials, SA Apa-Canal Chisinau Constantin Becciev said that the workers managed to fix about 100 such accidents and the works go on. “Woks to remove the leakages caused by the melting water in pipes have been executed for two weeks. There are about 100 leakages left,” he stated. Constantin Becciev also said that about 1 000 of the 2 700 branch pipes that got frozen in winter have not been yet checked, but the teams continue work. When the dispatcher’s office is informed about new accidents, the employees travel to the scene. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked the supplier to repair or replace the pipes that froze in winter so as to avoid accidents in the future. He said SA Apa-Canal Chisinau can recover a part of the losses sustained because of the frozen pipes as it was a force majeure situation this winter. According to SA Apa-Canal Chisinau, almost 3 000 branch pipes have iced up this winter in the municipality of Chisinau.
