The initiative to sign the National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova is intended not only for political parties, but also for civil society. It refers not only to the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit, where Moldova is to initial the Association Agreement with the EU, but also to the period after the summit, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
The Liberal Democratic Party proposed signing this pact. “It’s time for the European objective to become an objective of the whole society, not only of the politicians. We must take efficient actions and to disseminate information about the path to the EU to everyone’s understanding,” said Vlad Filat.
He added that a campaign will be launched, within which they will go from people to people and will explain them the benefits of the integration into the EU. “The pact is aimed at ensuring the cohesion of those who sign it. It has a symbolic meaning. We want cohesion not only between the political players. I expect the Moldovan politicians to be responsible and not to act to the detriment of the own people. I refer directly to Vladimir Voronin (the leader of the Communist Party – e.n.). One should not be so cynical and change the option every four years,” he stated.
In the same program, political analyst Nicolae Negru said it seems to him that the government does not sufficiently inform the people about the European course. That’s why problems appeared in the Transnistrian region and in Gagauzia. But steps started to be taken to inform the population and this is good.
The National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova was presented by the Liberal Democratic Party on November 18. The other two forces of the Pro-European Coalition – the Democratic Party and the Liberal reformers – already subscribed to it.
