Head of the Democratic Action Party (PAD) Mihai Godea urged Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti and Speaker Marian Lupu to name a candidate for the seat of director of the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS), Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the PAD leader, the SIS has been led for a year by an acting director. The conceptual and structural reforms have been delayed and the institution got dragged into political scandals. “The Democratic Action Party observes that the lack of a stable leader of the Security and Intelligence Service hinders the reform of this institution and doesn’t assure its adaptation to new realities, needed to answer efficiently to regional threats and dangers. We’re witnessing the imitation of security actions, while the local and international crime groups intensify their activity”, declared Mihai Godea.
The MP said that without a director the SIS couldn’t work normally and the results would get worse and worse. This leads to a dangerous situation, especially considering the frozen conflict and the terrorist attacks in Moldova’s vicinity.
