Parliament to examine Liberal lawmakers’ proposal to institute Freedom Day

The legislative body will debate the Liberal parliamentary group’s initiative to nominate April 7 as Freedom Day in one of its next sittings. The initiative was approved by most of the members of the legal commission, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Liberal lawmakers demanded that the issue be included in the agenda of the Parliament’s April 7 sitting, but the proposal did not garner the necessary number of votes. The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said then that they will insist on this initiative and will demand inviting the heads of the Ministry of the Interior, the Security and Information Service, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, and the Prosecutor General’s Office to Parliament to inform the MPs about the results achieved in the investigation of the April 7, 2009 events. The mentioned officials may render reports in the April 14 sitting of the legislature.
