Priests and parishioners of the Orthodox Church participated on Saturday in a Family March mounted by the Party of Socialists to promote the traditional values of the family. The event is also a protest against the march that the LGBTQI+ community announced for Sunday, IPN reports.
The PSRM leader was seen at the march accompanied by his wife and one of his sons. Igor Dodon said that the traditional family has been the pillar of Moldovans for centuries and must remain so from now on. “We see that someone is trying to decide the future of our children. Someone wants our children to think in a different way than we, our grandparents and ancestors. We do not want this for those who will carry our name onward,” said the politician. The imposition of non-traditional values destroys the Republic of Moldova, the family and the state, Igor Dodon noted, adding that those who came to the Family March are the true citizens of the state.
BCS MP Petru Burduja came to the march to express his support for the traditional family institute, composed of a woman-mother, a man-father and children and in no other way. “Because this is how it was decided by ou” Lord and this is how it must remain forever for our great-grandchildren,” said the parliamentarian. “What is imposed on us, to accept a new formula of existence instead of the traditional family, such as parent 1, parent 2, is foreign to our society and we cannot accept it in any way because otherwise we are destined to perish as a society, as a nation and as a country.”
Deacon Victor of Ungheni voiced hope that through this march, perhaps, society will wake up and will be receptive to the calls of the Church and of people of good faith, who urge to create lasting and Christian families. “In fact, we can’t call families the others. Through our march we showed what the real family is - the one that is composed of mother, father and children,” added the priest.
Eugen Botezatu, a supporter of the traditional family, said that only by having families consisting of a woman, man and children, an Orthodox Christian community that offers suitable opportunities to learn and work can be built. “Healthy, wise, courageous, faithful children come out of the family and along the way they develop the country, develop our Orthodox Christian community,” stated the man.
The participants in the event gathered together in front of the Circus in the capital city and, after saying prayers, marched to the Metropolitan Cathedral “Nativity of the Lord”. They carried icons and church flags and also white balloons.
