The supremacy of law is the first element that should be built and ensured by a state to become rich. The justice sector reform, the fight against corruption, realization of human rights are not abstract notions, but are benchmarks for the government of Moldova, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in a meeting with the President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Guido Raimondi, who paid a visit to Chisinau on October 6, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, in the discussions Pavel Filip reiterated the Government’s support for the initiatives to reform the ECHR, saying the legal practice should be permanently connected to social realities. He noted that the Government’s key objective is to ensure Moldovans’ welfare, underlining the connection between economic development, social investments and ensuring of supremacy of the law.
The Premier also spoke about the reforms launched by the Government, in particular the central public administration reform and its role in strengthening the state institutions, including the law enforcement agencies. He said the state institutions cooperate in dealing with cases of increased social interest, noting the creation of an inter-institutional platform for monitoring and controlling the investigation into the banking fraud.
For his part, Guido Raimondi expressed his support for the promotion of democratic reforms, human rights and the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova in order to ensure equal rights, non-discriminatory values and tolerance in society.
