PCRM: Association Agreement stipulates only obligations, not yet rights for Moldova

The Association Agreement with the EU, which was signed by Moldova, stipulates only obligations and bans for the country, not yet rights, said the leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin, who made statements concerning the signing of the accord for journalists. He stated that before the signing of the accord, the PCRM repeatedly declared that it is inadmissible to accept a document that was not discussed in society and at legislative hearings, given that Moldova is a parliamentary country.

According to the Communist leader, by signing this document, Moldova losses its political, economic and social independence as the country is not ready to cope with so drastic requirements on the part of the UE.

“The PCRM is not against the modernization of the country and the implementation of new innovations in all the areas of activity. But these objectives must be achieved based on the national interests, in the relations both with the EU and with the traditional partners of Moldova. We must not lose these partners,” said Vladimir Voronin.

He also said the fact that the Government of Moldova cannot intervene in this accord during three years is the most serious. If it turns out that it will be impossible to implement whole chapters of this document, the country will be unable to review these positions and will be subdued by the EU.

The Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU was signed in Brussels on June 27.
