PCRM satisfied with election results

The Party of Communists is pleased with how it fared in the recent local elections. The statement was made by the PCRM leader, Vladimir Voronin, at the party’s assembly on Saturday, June 25. The meeting lasted two hours and the access of press was restricted, Info-Prim Neo reports. Voronin declared that PCRM’s best result was in Chisinau. Asked to comment on the accusations between PDM and PLDM, Vladimir Voronin labeled their behavior inappropriate and thinks their voters will draw the conclusions. The PL leader, Mihai Ghimpu, claimed earlier that PCRM wanted to go to the Supreme Justice Court with the process regarding the annulment of mayor’s elections in Chisinau, because the institution was headed by their man- Ion Muruianu. Voronin however deems Ghimpu’s declarations unworthy of attention. The Communist leader added that Ghimpu himself had admitted he was “affected by high temperatures”. The mayoral elections in Chisinau were narrowly won by the PL candidate, Dorin Chirtoaca, in the second round. PCRM contested the result and demanded repeated elections. The file is now at the Court of Appeal, after the first court rejected the Communists’ request.
