PCRM urges Timofti to withdraw from presidential race

The Party of Communists urges the only candidate for the presidency Nicolae Timofti to withdraw from the presidential race. “You should have courage to withdraw! I don’t think you want to become a President with a dubious mandate. You will become a compromise President since you are voted in,” Communist MP Artur Reshetnikov said in the Parliament’s special sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports. “For a period, Moldova has been a state where the power has been usurped, while the rights and freedoms of the people violated. Today we see another example, which shows that the ruling alliance wants to remain in power as long as possible. On December 16, it was the same. Then, at the request of Marian Lupu, everyone showed how they voted. The so-called elections are organized cunningly, the change of the hour of the special sitting being an example of this. Therefore, the PCRM delegated representatives to supervise these elections. Mister Timofti, today you have the chance to become an accomplice. You can stop the tension in the country and we urge you to withdraw,” said Artur Reshetnikov. Three Communist MPs - Artur Reshetnikov, Sergiu Sarbu and Inna Supac – came to the special sitting of Parliament, where the President is to be elected, to monitor the voting process. In the afternoon, the PCRM will stage a social march against the alliance, which will predictably involve about 20,000 persons.
