The leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu, in a news conference on June 7, said the success of his party in the June 5 local elections is confirmed by the election of 93 Democratic mayors and the 224 Democratic candidates who will compete in the second round of voting, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We call on the residents of the settlements where the second round of voting will take place to be active and support democracy in Moldova,” said Marian Lupu. The Democrat leader stressed that the most important electoral battle will be fought in Chisinau. He called upon the sympathizers of the Democratic Party to support Dorin Chirtoaca, who, according to him, is now not only the AEI’s candidate, but also the person who can ensure stability and progress in the capital city. As to the second round of voting, Marian Lupu said the best should win in the settlements where two representatives of the democratic forces will contend in the second round. In all the other cases, the Democratic Party will actively support the representatives of the democratic parties.
