PDM leader will run officially in next presidential elections
The chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu will officially take part in the next presidential elections. The Democratic leader made the announcement on Wednesday evening, after the meeting of the Executive Political Committee of the PDM, which involved the leaders of all the party’s local organizations. Marian Lupu said the head of state must be elected not later than the middle of December, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”We disused the provisions of the political agreement as regards the ruling alliance’s candidate for the presidency. The party decided that I will be proposed for head of state and this is the official position, no matter how many votes will be polled,” said Marian Lupu.
Asked by the press to comment on the PLDM’s position that they should adopt the budget first and then return to the election of the President, Marian Lupu said it is speculative and unserious. “If they are concerned about the budget law, they should have submitted the bill by October 1. This delay shows lack of interest,” he stated.
He believes that the Liberal-Democrats aim to obtain the vote of the ruling alliance for the budget and the budgetary-fiscal policy and then to wash their hands and vote for another candidate than that agreed by the AEI.
As to Igor Dodon’s insistence, Marian Lupu said the lawmaker had an unjustified behavior. “If you come and suggest one of your colleagues for President, how do you behave towards the people who are to give you those votes? You must have at least a decent behavior. Mister Dodon came with threats and this behavior ruined many arrangements that we could come to,” said Marian Lupu, adding Zinaida Greceanyi probably does not support the statements made by Igor Dodon.
The presidential elections set for November 18 did not take place because there was registered no candidate.
