The Democratic parliamentary group does not rule out that Minister of Education Mihai Shleahtitski may be discharged. The chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu told the journalists that the PDM condemns narrow approaches in adopting such decision as to name the History course as the History of Romanians and Universal History course, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We reached the decision to discuss the sensitive issues within the Council of the AEI and the alliance first, but this decision is not respected. We must keep pace with the European requirements, the recommendations of the Council of Europe and the current situation. The PDM considers that the people should not be put on barricaded according to ethnic and linguistic criteria,” said Marian Lupu. He stressed that the History course should not contain the name of an ethnic group in its name. “We will promote this idea in order to return to normality,” stated Marian Lupu. Asked if the Alliance for European Integration may decide in favor of dismissing the minister of education, he said that everything is possible. The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary grip Valeriu Strelet said the Government’s activity is a complex process and the assessments as regards the coordination of certain processes are made by the Premier, who is also responsible for the firings. The Liberal group head Ion Hadarca said they do not have objections to the work of the entire ministerial team and do not consider that Mihai Shleahtitski should be dismissed. The leader of the group of Socialists Igor Dodon called on the Democratic and Communist MPs to put forward a simple motion to discharge Mihai Shleahtitski. But the initiators need 15 signatures in favor of such a motion. On March 7, the minister of education made an order to name the History course as the History of Romanians and Universal History course.
